Our mission.

As academics, we recognize the power of words in articulating the present and molding the future.

In an effort to combat anti-intellectualism, we aim to spotlight people, places, and periods that showcase human ingenuity, wisdom, and cultural idiosyncrasy to encourage informed dialogue in an evolving world.

We acknowledge that we are located on (and enjoy the fruits of) the managed, traditional lands of the Multnomah, Wasco, Kathlamet, Cowlitz, Clackamas, and other autochthonous groups of the Columbia River.
